DeSoto County School Board meeting, Oct. 16 โ The board approved rescissions and revisions to multiple board policies after staff presented language changes tied to guidance from the Mississippi School Board Association (MSBA).
Board members said the MSBA update had identified repeated information across multiple policies. The meeting record shows the board approved rescinding policy BCAC (special needs) and BCBA (time and place) and approved revisions to other policies including JBCD, JVCCA, JPCD and KCB, among others. Staff said the changes are intended to streamline duplicated material and update language for consistency with MSBA guidance.
Mister Olson recommended approval and the board approved each item by voice vote.
Why it matters: Policy changes based on the MSBA update are administrative and aim to reduce redundancy in the district's policy manual. Several rescissions and revisions were approved at the meeting.
