Commissioners approve Anstead Road vacation, decline Oxbow Drive request after incomplete paperwork

At public hearings July 23, the Clermont County Board of Commissioners approved a request from Stone Lake Township to vacate a 145‑foot portion of Anstead (sometimes spelled Onstead) Road (Township Road 358). Craig Reisner of the County Engineer's Office said the proposed reduction begins at a point established by a prior 1978 vacation and would reduce township‑reported road mileage by approximately 145 feet (0.027 miles). The board adopted the resolution to vacate by roll call (unanimous).

At an 11:15 hearing the board considered a separate request to vacate Oxbow Drive, which staff described as a "paper street" dedicated in a 1950s subdivision but never built. The county tax map office and engineer reported no legal description, plat, or parcel dimensions had been submitted, so staff could not identify acreage or assign ownership if the right of way were vacated. The County Engineer's Office recommended declining the request until a correct legal description and plat are provided. The board adopted a resolution declining to vacate Oxbow Drive (unanimous).

Craig Reisner presented both engineer reports at the hearings. Commissioners noted the Anstead/Onstead spelling discrepancy in records and used the township's submitted spelling for the record.
