Speaker 1, a presiding member of the Athens Shade Tree Commission, proposed at the Nov. 13 meeting that the commission organize a public pruning workshop uptown in late winter, saying, "I would like to see if we could put together a pruning workshop uptown." The proposal would focus on ground- and canopy-level pruning for small street trees, including hawthorns in front of the parking garage and a snapped Kentucky coffee tree on Court Street.
