East Ridge approves 4% increase to Riverside policing and fire payments under interlocal agreement

The East Ridge City Council on Nov. 13 approved addendums to its interlocal agreements with the City of Riverside that raise Riverside’s payment levels for police and fire protection.

City Manager Miller told council the agreements — which historically renewed annually — did not include a post-June 30, 2024 cost-of-service increase. Miller said he worked with Riverside’s mayor to propose a 4% increase for the 2026–27 fiscal year. "The 2 addendums before you under this resolution would increase the payment…to $90,171 for police services and $40,994 for fire services beginning 07/01/2026 to 06/30/2027," Miller said. Miller also summarized call volumes attached to the memorandum: 46 police calls and 14 fire calls in the past 12 months.

Vice Mayor Tyler moved to approve Resolution 37-59; Council member Witt seconded. Council voted unanimously to adopt the addenda. Miller noted the deadline to make changes is Dec. 31, 2025; absent changes, the agreements automatically renew without a cost-of-living increase.

The addenda take effect for the listed fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and the city will post the amended agreement and billing schedules to fulfill the interlocal obligations.
