Commissioners approve $17,090 in opioid-settlement funding for jail yoga, grant early-voting space and advance several administrative contracts

The board voted to award $17,090 from the county’s opioid settlement allocation to continue a yoga program in the county jail. Leanne Wright of the Community Foundation of Pulaski County asked for the funding, noting a reported 91% attendance rate and program support from jail staff; commissioners approved the award by voice vote.
The commissioners also granted County Clerk Joanne Baney use of the vacated security office across the hall for early voting in April and October 2026 to ease early‑voting operations. The motion was moved and approved by voice vote.
Separately, the county attorney updated the board that revised language in a hospital contract (competitive‑bidding and nondisclosure items) was under review by the hospital CEO; commissioners moved to approve the contract with the attorney’s amendments and the motion passed. Commissioners also approved a temporary extension allowing county employees to use accrued PTO through Jan. 31 and accepted proposed 2026 meeting dates and holidays.
What’s next: staff will implement the opioid‑funded program, prepare the early‑voting space, and finalize contract paperwork with the hospital once the CEO’s review is complete.
