Supervisor Galen Gilbert had earlier recounted two structure fires and several brush fires over the prior five days and noted firefighters were stretched thin; the chair then moved to issue the burn ban. The chair asked county staff to distribute the ban notice to local media and social channels as soon as possible and to issue a separate notice when the ban is lifted.
The action is a short-term public-safety measure; the board did not adopt additional enforcement details at the meeting. The board directed staff to provide the public notice and said the ban will remain until a future board action or staff-determined improvement in weather and fire conditions.
