Board formalizes fair committee structure, confirms seven appointments

The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors approved a fair committee establishment and operating policy that defines committee composition, term structure, officer elections, subcommittee rules and annual reporting requirements.
County administration told the board the fair committee will consist of seven voting members — five district appointments and two at-large — with members serving staggered four-year terms and eligibility for reappointment. The policy permits the formation of volunteer subcommittees and requires the fair committee to provide an annual report to the Board of Supervisors after the fair to inform budgeting and operations.
During the meeting the board opened nominations and confirmed several appointments by voice vote, including Delmar Bridal, Roderick Mullins, Barbara Wilbur, Rhea Soraya, Billy Branham and Donna Fields among others. The Irvington District nomination was deferred to the December 1 meeting to allow supervisors additional time to recruit a nominee.
Board members said the staggered term approach (drawing some shorter initial terms at random) will prevent all seats from expiring simultaneously and preserve continuity for the fair committee.
