Supervisors complete second‑tier canvass; Northland District 3 seat flips by 8 votes

Matt Warfield, deputy commissioner of elections for Linn County, presented the certification packet and walked supervisors through the jurisdictions subject to the canvass.
"This only encompasses school districts," Warfield said, naming Kirkwood/College Community, Lisbon, Mount Vernon, Center Point‑Urbana and Northland as among the jurisdictions included. He said the canvass packet rolled up official results from the counties that overlap each jurisdiction so the board could certify consolidated outcomes.
Warfield told the board the packet covered a total of 15 counties and 14 races and that supervisors would sign the certification in order. After combining all counties, Warfield reported, "there is only 1 winner that changed ... Jared Zumbaugh ... was the winner of that contest ... by a total of 8 votes." Supervisors expressed appreciation for the elections staff and the auditor's office for administering the process.
The canvass paperwork was prepared for board review and signature; the transcript records staff presenting the consolidated results and supervisors acknowledging and thanking elections staff and the auditor for their work.
