The Round Lake Beach village board voted Nov. 17 to approve an ordinance consenting to dissolution of the Avon Fremont Township drainage district after nearby Grayslake agreed to assume maintenance responsibilities.
Public Works Director Fritz told trustees the villages portion of the drainage district is approximately 0.02221 percent and that Grayslake accounts for about 74.67 percent of the district territory. Because Grayslake meets the states threshold for dissolution oversight, Grayslake will fund and maintain the drainage assets and Round Lake Beach will forward its small share of funding (expected to be only a few hundred dollars) to Grayslake for project maintenance.
Trustee Davis moved to approve the ordinance and Trustee Ibarra seconded. A roll call vote recorded ayes from all trustees and the motion carried. The board characterized the action as a practical transfer of responsibility given the villages minimal geographic share of the district and the administrative efficiencies of having Grayslake maintain the system.
