The Round Lake Beach village board on Nov. 17 administered oaths and approved personnel changes including a new police officer and two municipal appointments.
Mayor Drew Nichols and Chief Rodriguez introduced Juan Rocha as the village's newest police officer, noting Rocha was in training and expected to complete roughly a month and a half of field training. Nichols administered the oath of office to Rocha, who was joined at the meeting by family members.
The board also accepted the resignation of Trustee Sylvia Valadez and moved to appoint Bill Morales to the vacant trustee seat. Trustee Husk moved to appoint Morales, Trustee Hillshiem seconded, and the board approved the appointment by roll call with unanimous ayes. Mayor Nichols then administered the trustee oath to Morales.
With Moraless prior clerk seat vacant, the board nominated Marjorie (Margie) Cleveland to return as village clerk. Trustee Stout moved to appoint Cleveland and Trustee Ibarra seconded; Cleveland took the oath and resumed the clerks duties.
All three actions were routine municipal appointments carried out during the regular meeting; the board handled each by motion and roll call vote and immediately administered the statutory oaths of office.
