County approves five-year IT agreement with ESI/Scale Computing to replace virtual environment

County IT staff asked the board to approve a five-year agreement with ESI/Scale Computing to replace the county's virtual computing environment after the county's current provider changed its pricing and structure.
CJ, the county's IT staffer, told commissioners they evaluated roughly five systems and requested quotes from four vendors. CJ said the incumbent vendor would not provide a stable five-year price and that continued growth in that vendor's pricing could result in annual software costs near $78,000 and additional equipment needs of roughly $200,000 over five years. "The total between these 2 is around $170,000 over for a 5 year life, much lower than the other options that we found," CJ said when describing the ESI/Scale Computing proposal.
County reviewer Jeff said staff requested several contract changes and the vendor accepted the requested edits. Commissioners voted to enter the agreement and directed IT to proceed with execution and deployment planning.
The board did not approve specific procurement purchase orders in the meeting; staff will return with implementation timelines and expenditures for administrative review.
