Bountiful’s council approved a series of infrastructure actions on Nov. 25.
Power department recommendations: the council approved purchase of two 150 kVA padmount transformers (low bid from Western United, $30,436 total) for inventory. The power department also presented a master agreement with UDOT to coordinate pole relocations and reimbursements related to an I‑15 widening project; council approved the master agreement and an associated Outside Engineering Services Reimbursement Agreement. Council later approved a $163,700 engineering services agreement with ECI to perform design work for the UDOT reconstruction (staff noted the project will exceed original budgeted engineering dollars and reimbursement from UDOT was expected).
Viewmont Well: city engineers updated the council on rehabilitation work at the Viewmont Well, describing sand intrusion, need for specialized rental equipment and a slow surge/pumping development sequence. Current pumped yield is roughly 500 gpm (with marginal sand levels); goal is to approach 1,000 gpm if development is successful. Staff requested an additional $150,000 (equivalent to the original contract’s development time allowance) to continue well development; council approved the $150,000 allocation by voice vote and noted the work may require future budget amendments if additional funds become necessary.
Council emphasized UDOT reimbursement processes (progress billing) and noted that transformer purchases would be added to inventory until needed.
