The committee had recommended approval and the board adopted the resolutions.
"Lightning struck our communications tower at the dispatch center" on Aug. 17 and struck the Golden Gate Water Tower on Aug. 18, said Mike (speaker 6), who thanked vendors and the IT team for rapid response. He said vendors were on scene and working by early morning the next day and that the replacements were necessary to keep radio, network and microwave systems functioning.
Staff requested waivers of the formal bid process for items over $25,000 where applicable; trustees approved the requests and the associated invoices by roll call.
Why it matters: The equipment supports public-safety communications. Officials said prompt vendor support minimized service disruption, and the board approved expenditures to fully restore critical infrastructure.
