Warrick County board opens single bid for processing-center RFP, postpones award to Nov. 26 special meeting

The Warrick County Solid Waste Management District opened a single bid for its processing-center request for proposals and deferred an award to a Nov. 26 special meeting.

Sherry Severs, the district’s accounting acquisition administrator, said the engineering group ran the RFP and the district received one submitted bid from Sims Electric. Carl Fry of Aegis confirmed required submittals and read the total bid as "$148,875." After staff checked that the bid form and attachments were present, board member Jim Miller moved to take the bid under advisement so the engineering group could complete document and compliance checks; Charlie Wyatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Severs told the board she expected engineering would review completeness and report back at the special meeting, which the board set for Nov. 26 at noon at the same location. The board did not award the contract at the Nov. 20 meeting; Severs and engineering were authorized to review paperwork and advise whether the bid meets RFP specifications.

The decision preserves the district’s procurement process while allowing staff to confirm bonding, certifications and other bid attachments before award. No other bids were opened at the meeting.

Next steps: engineering will verify the documentation for Sims Electric’s bid and present a recommendation at the Nov. 26 special meeting where the board may vote to award or reject the bid.
