Wayne County halts payment, orders repairs after substandard road work on Tanker Road
County roads staff reported quality issues on Tanker and Thorpe roads and said the contractor (Sykes Brothers) must return to correct work at its cost; the county will withhold final payment until repairs pass inspection and asked for interim safety signage.

Wayne County officials told the Board of Commissioners on Dec. 1 that recent paving work on Tanker Road was not completed to county standards and that the prime contractor, Sykes Brothers, must return to correct defects at its expense.
