The Ada County Board of Commissioners recognized a national award for the county’s financial reporting during its open business meeting. An on-camera reader said the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) "awarded the certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting to Ada County for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending 09/30/2024."
County staff noted the Certificate of Achievement is the highest recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and that the award reflects an impartial panel’s finding that the report meets high program standards for full disclosure. A clerk’s-office speaker told the board Ada County has received the honor in consecutive years since 1988 and praised the year-round work required to maintain transparent reporting.
Commissioners and staff framed the award as evidence of the county’s commitment to public transparency and fiscal responsibility; the chair invited staff to take a photograph to mark the recognition. The board moved on to new business after brief comments; no formal policy changes were proposed in relation to the award.
