Architects present plans for Mustang Road elementary; construction expected 2026'28

Greg Wang, project manager at Arcadis, presented the schematic design and timeline for a replacement elementary school on Mustang Road intended to consolidate Walt Disney Elementary and Stevenson Primary.
"We're looking at starting construction next 2026," Wang said, and the firm expects construction to be complete by March 2028, with the school ready for the subsequent fall semester. Arcadis presented site plans showing the bus drop at the front of the building and a parent car drop to the south, and identified a secure visitor entrance on the northeast corner.
Sylvia Fitzwater, Arcadis senior associate director of interiors, reviewed the interior palette and design goals: muted colors that honor the prior campus, playful lighting, reading nooks, flexible library space and color wayfinding to help young students orient themselves. The team offered an interactive walkthrough via QR code and a video of interior circulation and learning spaces.
Trustees sought and received clarification that the replacement building will sit on the Walt Disney site (south of the current campus), not the Stevenson site. The presentation included conceptual floor plans, cafeteria and gym layouts and notes on acoustical treatments; no formal action was taken at the meeting on the schematic.
Next steps identified in the presentation timeline include final design and permitting ahead of the 2026 construction start.
