The Bannock County Board authorized staff to sign contracts for two survey-review roster positions and received updates on procurement activity and required inventories for the new event center.
Shanda Crystal introduced two signed survey-review roster contracts and recommended the board authorize signatures for Adam Thayer and Stuart Ward following an RFQ process that produced three respondents. Staff said annual pay for using the roster to assign survey work is roughly $7,000 in aggregate in recent years.
Crystal also briefed the board on a request for information (RFI) the county issued for small-engine services — work such as mower, ATV and chainsaw maintenance — intended to assess interest from local mechanical shops. Staff said prior analysis indicated outsourcing heavy equipment maintenance to vendors like CAT did not save money, but the RFI is intended to test if smaller services could free shop time for higher-priority tasks.
Separately, the board directed staff to prepare an inventory of tables and chairs for the event center, produce a walk-through checklist for renters (cleaning, restroom expectations and return conditions), and to review rental payment processes (rec desk system, credit-card refunds, cash handling). Staff noted some complexity around refunds for credit-card payments and recommended using rec-desk systems for scheduled rental events.
The board approved claims and consent items by motion and voice vote later in the meeting and moved on to certificate-of-residency and a salary-rate approval form before adjourning.
