Landmarks commission issues certificates of appropriateness for multiple properties

The Baltimore County Landmarks Preservation Commission approved a suite of routine and substantive preservation actions at its meeting.
Consent-agenda approvals covered: Emery Grove Hotel (in-kind roof and window work), the Brennan property (tax-credit application for boiler and hot-water system work and removal of an abandoned fuel tank), the Dundalk Pasco Neck Historical Society slate roof replacement, the McCoy property's proposed solar panels on rear roofs of a noncontributing structure, and pest house repairs (graffiti removal, gutter replacement, and nonhistoric portico removal) at the County Home property (an MHT easement is recorded on the site). Commissioners flagged the Emery Grove item for staff to check the proposed shingle product (XT-20) because it may be phased out; staff said it would follow up with the applicant.
Separately, the commission approved the Leonza property (a 3-car detached rubble-stone garage at Springfield and Setting) after staff concluded the design, materials (slate roof, Marvin ultimate windows) and location were compatible. The commission also granted a certificate of appropriateness for comprehensive repair and restoration at the Beckley House (202 Main Street), including roof and gutter repairs, window/shutter restoration or replacement, and masonry repointing; the applicant requested staff-level conditional approvals for cut sheets.
Staff reported several MHT Part 2 tax-credit approvals in recent weeks for properties across the county and reminded commissioners of a county council public hearing for the Maroney House scheduled for Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. The commission set its next meeting for Jan. 14 (second Wednesday) and closed the session.
