The Kalispell City Council on Nov. 17 adopted Resolution 6300, calling for a public hearing on Dec. 1 to consider amending the fiscal 2025–26 budget to transfer funds from the general fund to the central garage fund for site selection and design professional services for a proposed central garage facility.
City staff told the council the proposed amendment would allow the city to procure professional services related to site and design work but would not obligate construction funds. "It would just move some funds into a line item that would allow the city to procure professional services relating to site and design of the central garage facility," staff said.
Councilor Carlson moved to adopt the resolution of intent; the motion was seconded and the council voted unanimously to call the public hearing on Dec. 1, 2025. Staff said the action is a procedural step to initiate the hearing and future council consideration of any further budget commitments.
The hearing will give the public an opportunity to comment before any final budget amendment is adopted.
