Council approves North Place right-of-way vacation to align roads with approved subdivision

The Post Falls City Council voted to approve the North Place right-of-way vacation (VAC-253) on Dec. 2, clearing a century-old linear right-of-way so the developer's approved road alignments can proceed.
John Mahler, Planning Manager, said staff saw no need to retain the right-of-way and that it did not conflict with utility providers. "No utility providers are affected," Mahler said, summarizing agency responses. Applicant Kevin Schneidmiller told council the right-of-way dated to a 1910 plat and did not conform to modern collector standards; vacating it will allow the developer to dedicate new rights-of-way in later phases that better match the Master Transportation Plan.
Council moved, seconded and approved the vacation; staff will incorporate the change into the development's future subdivision approvals.
