The Richmond City Board of Commissioners approved multiple procurement and grant actions at its meeting, funding infrastructure and community programs.
The board awarded the Richmond Regional Sports Complex soccer-goals contract (Order 25-145) to Challenger Teamwear for $120,291.45, with funding drawn from the Sports Complex project fund and a general-obligation bond series previously approved by ordinance. Staff said the package includes goals, nets, accessories and shipping and meets project specifications.
Order 25-150 awarded the carpentry contract for the new fire training center to Servpro Pro of Richmond for $84,673.24; staff noted the selected bid met all specifications though it was not the lowest bid. The city manager said the work was rebudgeted to finish the project in FY26.
The commission authorized a 48-month lease with Toshiba Products for office copy machines (Order 25-159); the meeting transcript lists a $1,568 total for the 48-month lease but staff discussion indicated pricing and service-support comparisons were considered during procurement (audit note: meeting record does not make clear whether the figure is a monthly cost or total; council discussion flagged the bid was not the lowest but offered better local service).
Order 25-156 approved a contract with FAHE Consulting to administer a Community Development Block Grant project for the Richmond Recovery Project (Liberty Place). The contract listed $1,500 for application services and $10,000 for administration; staff said all fees will be paid out of grant funds and that project activities are contingent on release of funds from the Department for Local Government.
In Order 25-157 the board approved $50,000 in charitable donations to local nonprofit organizations for FY26 (examples listed in the order include CASA of the Wilderness Trail $5,000; God’s Outreach Madison County Food Bank $5,000; Special Olympics of Kentucky $5,000; Richmond Area Arts Council $5,000; Richmond County NAACP $1,000). Staff corrected a worksheet during the meeting to ensure the grant totals matched the approved allocation.
All procurement and grant actions recorded in the meeting were approved by unanimous vote.
