At the Nov. 17 work session, staff gave an update on the Unified Development Code (UDC) rewrite and summarized several consent and council-bound items.
Jeff Fisher said the UDC — Temple’s zoning, subdivision and sign regulations last updated in 2010 — is now being revised in six phases. Phases 1 and 2 (sign regulations and agency roles) have completed initial public consultation, and staff and consultant (Whitesmith) plan to return with remaining phases next year; staff noted subdivisions and development standards will be more complex and take longer.
Staff also described a consent-item subdivision replat at 704 South 28th Street: a 100-foot-wide lot proposed to be divided into four 25-foot lots for future twin-home development. Cheryl Maxwell was identified as principal planner associated with that item. Jeff Fisher also reported a zone-change at 4181 Tower Road recommended by P&Z 9–0 and set for City Council on Nov. 20.
The work session did not record final approvals for the replat (consent item handled at hearing) nor the outcome at council for the Tower Road case; the transcript indicates staff will provide formal packets and schedule updates. Staff said they are coordinating the UDC schedule with the assistant city manager, Ms. Smith, and expect to return with more detailed materials in the new year.
