Parent asks Colonial SD to clarify acceleration pathways, requests sixth-grade advanced math

During the public-comment portion of the meeting, parent and community member Liz Egniel asked the Curriculum Committee for clearer public information about middle-grade acceleration and whether a sixth-grade advanced math course is available under Colonial SD’s SEEK pathways.
Egniel said she could not find a comprehensive, public-facing plan online that explains acceleration opportunities for grades 6–8 and asked staff how parents can find out which pathways and acceleration options exist. "Most specifically, we're hoping that we can talk about an advanced math class for sixth grade," she said, asking whether the district has a space for acceleration, and how parents should proceed if they want to pursue it for their child.
Board members and staff responded that they would follow up, offered to arrange a meeting to review pathways across grades 6–12, and said staff would provide contact information to the commenter to continue the discussion. No formal board action was taken during public comment.
