Crook County accepts $150,000 CJC grant to fund deflection program

Lieutenant Aaron Boyd of the Crook County sheriff’s office Community Corrections division asked the board to sign the county’s Criminal Justice Commission (CJC) grant agreement to fund the county’s deflection program. Boyd told commissioners that the $150,000 award is the same amount as the prior award and that a second portion of the award remains in process and is expected in the coming months.
Commissioners asked whether the amount represented a reduction from past years; Boyd replied it was unchanged. A commissioner moved, seconded and the board voted to approve the CJC grant agreement (BHD-27-05) and authorize signatures as required. Commissioners thanked staff and acknowledged the program’s role in behavioral health deflection.
The grant is intended to support the county’s ongoing deflection efforts; staff said further administrative steps remain to complete the award process.
