Committee accepts architect's recommendation, approves submission to RIDE for window and skylight work

Architect Phil Conte of Studio Jade presented an updated scope for planned construction and recommended the district submit the materials to the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) for approval. Conte said priorities include replacement of gymnasium window systems and some older windows in the building, followed by skylights in the lobby and gallery; he described a procurement approach that would break out skylight units to allow selective bidding and maximize available funding. Conte said bidding and procurement would begin in winter and, if approved, materials could be ordered to support spring/summer construction.

A motion to accept the architect's report and recommendation was made and seconded; the committee approved the motion by voice vote. The acceptance authorizes moving forward with the RIDE submission and the described procurement strategy; no final construction contract award was voted at this meeting.
