The resolution cited Langley’s leadership with the Charles Hamilton Houston Foundation, his role in founding and supporting Kids Voting Durham, and his service on local advisory boards including the Durham Civilian Police Review Board and the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council. Family members attended the meeting; commissioners and community leaders delivered tributes describing Langley’s mentorship of young people and his role holding officials accountable.
Kevin McIver, chair of the Durham County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, read personal remarks about Langley’s dedication and presented an "in loving memory" plaque to the family. Commissioners thanked the family for sharing Langley with the community and committed to carrying forward his work supporting youth.
The board presented a framed copy of the resolution to Langley’s family. The reading and remarks were placed on the public record during the ceremonial portion of the meeting.
