Summary
The committee approved moving a paragraph into Policy EE (Child Nutrition Program Management) per consultant recommendation and asked staff to report how many non-child-nutrition employees use cafeteria meals to consider discounted staff rates.
On Oct. 21, 2025, the Policy Committee of the Whole approved a technical revision to Policy EE (Child Nutrition Program Management) to incorporate language moved from Policy JGB, following a recommendation from the district’s consultant (Forethought).
During discussion, a committee member raised questions about whether some non-child-nutrition staff currently receiving free or discounted meals would be affected. The member asked staff to provide counts and projections of how many employees purchase meals in district cafeterias so the board could evaluate whether a discounted staff rate should be offered or whether existing eligibility language should remain unchanged. The presenter said staff would obtain current participation numbers and return with projections for a future meeting.
The committee made and seconded a motion to adopt the revision; a roll-call vote was taken and the motion passed. Committee members did not record a fiscal estimate during discussion, but requested additional data from Kendra (staff) before any further policy adjustments.
The committee adopted the organizational change into Policy EE and directed staff to report the requested participation numbers and pricing projections at a subsequent meeting.
