Commissioners reviewed proposed language for the county planner job description that would allow negotiated hourly‑wage increases after the incumbent obtains professional certifications, including AICP and completion of the National Response Framework planning for emergency management. The staff member seeking the role said such language would protect her ability to negotiate a higher wage once certified: "So it gives an opportunity for me...to become better to better serve the county," she said.
