Commissioners approve fleet and equipment replacements and a courtroom AV sole-source quote

At its Sept. 2 meeting the Troup County Board of Commissioners approved several budgeted equipment and technology expenditures required for county operations.
The board approved replacing a 1999 Ford F-250 with a 2025 Toyota Tacoma at $42,003.89, a budgeted FY26 general-fund purchase discussed by Mosley and staff. The board also approved replacing a 25–30-year-old shop lift jack with a heavy-duty unit from Heavy Duty Lift Company at $80,009.64 to be paid from the capital fund.
Chief Whitney Kane (referenced) reported that several control boards had been struck by lightning and were beyond repair. Insurance issued a check for $79,172; Mosley said the county would cover the remaining deductible portion from the public safety SPLOST account (Mosley referenced a $15,000 deductible). The board approved the vendor and funding approach to replace the control boards.
Separately, staff presented a sole-source Liberty Technologies quote of $133,717 to install and tie Courtroom 3C into the county’s interlinked audio-visual system. Staff said Liberty Technologies currently serves the county’s other courtrooms and that interconnectivity made a sole-source procurement appropriate; the board approved the quote.
All motions were carried by voice vote; staff will proceed with procurement and implementation steps consistent with the county’s purchasing policies.
