Pueblo County rolls out PMB ambassador program to guide permit applicants through permitting process

Pueblo County planning staff presented a new Pueblo Means Business (PMB) ambassador program during the BOCC work session on Sept. 11, describing a customer-support role meant to ease permitting and zoning authorization for contractors and property owners.
Wally Wallace, identified as the Pueblo Means Business manager in Planning & Development, described the program: "This is a new mission of Pueblo means business ... as soon as the building permit is pulled and they're told to connect with planning development ... we have 1 of our PMB ambassadors that is assigned to that permit and offers support to the customers throughout the entire permit process." Wallace provided the vendor website, publicmeansbusiness.com, and a phone number for help.
Why it matters: County staff said the ambassador role aims to reduce delays by ensuring permit applicants find the correct contacts and do not get stuck waiting on agency responses; staff also reported work to refresh the PMB and building division web presence and to migrate useful portal functions including property lookup and basic financial calculations.
Other building-division updates: Arnold, introduced as the building official, told commissioners the county retained its ISO rating for one year and will submit credentials to extend the rating for three years once staffing is in place. The county signed a letter of intent for plumbing inspections to begin Jan. 1, and a similar letter for electrical inspections was being finalized. Arnold said applications to the Colorado Department of Public Safety have been started, and additional credentialing will follow as staffing is completed.
Next steps: Staff will present an update to the Pueblo West Metro board on Sept. 22 and asked for public feedback at an upcoming Technical Advisory Committee meeting.
