Commission on Ethics adopts new logo and hears executive director—s outreach, hiring and legislative updates

The Nevada Commission on Ethics recommended a new logo for its statewide branding effort and received an agency status report from Executive Director Armstrong covering outreach, procurement and hiring.
Armstrong presented three logo variations and noted staff had incorporated prior feedback. Commissioners favored Logo 3, with several asking for the sunburst color to be adjusted to a more "gold" tone consistent with the state flag. "We liked 2 and 3 as well ... it probably best represents what we're trying to go for," Vice Chair Dufferin said. The commission moved and approved a recommendation to adopt Logo 3 with minor color tweaks; staff will apply the branding to stationery and the website.
Armstrong also reported on outreach and training: a social-media series of five tips for newly elected officers, short 30-minute Zoom briefings for post-election officers, and scheduled in-person trainings including a Lander County session on Dec. 13 and an additional session in Golconda. He said the agency's request for a sole-source online learning vendor was denied and staff will issue an RFP; Armstrong estimated the RFP process would take 30 to 60 days. He also reported that the commission's ethics bill was prefiled and that the agency was tracking bill drafts, and that a personnel subcommittee will interview applicants with a Nov. 30 subcommittee meeting and a possible Dec. 8 appointment for commission counsel.
Commissioners thanked staff for responsiveness to county requests and for outreach work that seeks to prevent future ethics violations through education. The executive director's report was approved by voice vote.
