Board members moved to accept multiple applicants. Motions to accept applicants such as Tracy L. Brown Jr., John D. Fugate, Evan W. Ice, Daniel D. Lacey, Bryce J. Russell, Aaron M. Schafer, Dylan M. Scott, and Peyton R. Spradley carried with recorded "Aye" votes. For other applicants the board requested documentation proving 6,200 verifiable hours or IEC (apprenticeship) confirmation before final approval; where proof was missing the board tabled the application.
On testing, Don Bevan told members "the electrical board did approve the electrical test rewritten by Les Nunn last month using the 2023 code." Members debated whether to include calculation questions on the journeyman exam and heavier load-calculation items on the master exam. The board favored keeping journeyman items oriented to lookups and table use while placing deeper calculations on the master test.
The board requested that staff obtain sample questions or a reference list from Les Nunn to use as study material for candidates and said standard references such as Mike Holt and the American electricians' handbook would be acceptable sources. Members agreed staff could coordinate with the testing vendor and that the exam implementation should be completed before January 2025.
Outcome: Multiple applicants were approved; several applicants were tabled pending proof of hours; the board endorsed the rewritten exam using the 2023 code and asked staff to finalize calculation content and candidate study guidance.
