Madison County board adopts 2024 comprehensive plan with fire‑district map correction

The Madison County Board of Supervisors adopted the county's 2024 comprehensive plan after a public hearing in which planning staff and members of the public discussed mapping and outreach details. Planning staff told the board the plan had been reviewed closely and that a correction to the fire‑district map would be added before final publication.

The plan’s presentation emphasized existing densities and noted that staff would add a shapefile from the fire district to clarify boundaries. Staff distributed 25 printed notebooks and digital files to supervisors and said additional map and PDF materials would be provided on request.

During public comment Nancy (Speaker 5) said she worried the process repeated the same participants and worried that many residents had not been reached; board members and staff responded that the process included multiple input sessions earlier and later in the review cycle and that the hearing was properly noticed.

The board voted to approve the plan on a voice vote. Members also instructed staff to publish corrected map language clarifying the fire district, and to provide the board with final printed and digital copies for the county record.

The action concludes the current plan adoption; staff said implementation steps and any ordinance updates would proceed separately, and that additional neighborhood or ordinance changes would follow the county’s established rule‑making process.
