The Sutherlin City Council unanimously approved routine business during its meeting, accepting its August 12 minutes and appointing Larry Whitaker as the city’s voting delegate and an alternate for the League of Oregon Cities conference in Bend. City recorder Melanie Masterfield outlined the conference schedule and said the delegate should be someone attending the event.
Public Works asked the council to approve a replacement pickup for the wastewater crew. Kenneth Fulton described the requested vehicle as a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 four-wheel drive and said the purchase price through the state procurement program is $39,037.05. "It's below the budget number for it," Fulton said, noting the existing vehicle has high mileage and mechanical problems. Councilors moved and seconded the purchase; the motion passed with all present councilors voting "Aye."
Council also adopted Resolution 20 24.19 to surplus a 1994 mower/tractor, which staff described as mechanically worn and appropriate for auction in October. Each item on the consent and business agendas passed without recorded opposition.
The approvals will allow staff to order the replacement vehicle and list the surplus equipment for auction; no implementation dates were specified at the meeting.
