Anderson City — The Anderson City Council awarded a contract for Main Street sewer-line rehabilitation to VorTeq Services with a quoted contract price of $716,047.64, council records show.
Utility Director Scott Banks told the council the sewer line under Main Street is mostly clay, includes abandoned taps that allow groundwater infiltration, and requires point repairs and a fabric-lining process. Banks said the city proposed using a cooperative procurement vehicle (Houston-Galveston Area Council cooperative purchasing contract) that has negotiated pricing vetted by that contracting agency. “The quote based on the contract pricing is $716,047.64,” Banks said.
Banks said the work will use a cured-in-place fabric liner pulled from manhole to manhole, heated to cure and create a smooth seamless pipe; curing typically takes two to three hours per segment. Council asked about locality and competitiveness of cooperative pricing; Banks said the cooperative offers vetted maximum prices and staff negotiated adjustments based on local conditions. The project was budgeted at $750,000 in the utility budget and staff said funds are available.
The council approved the contract award by unanimous voice vote.
