LAMP Kinship retools program, hires coordinator and asks for donors

"We are still in your budget for, a gift of, 5,000," Judy (LAMP Kinship) told the commissioners, thanking the county for annual support and confirming the program’s expected county grant line. She said LAMP recently hired a program coordinator, Bridal Buller, who will work 20 hours a week to staff program operations while Judy focuses on fundraising and outreach.
The presenters described three program components: one‑to‑one mentoring matches, group activities (including collaboration with 4‑H) and lunch‑buddy school visits. Judy said the program currently has eight matches and expects the new hire will increase that number; she said mentors commit to a two‑year match and about four hours of time per month. The group reported an annual operating need around $84,000 and noted support from Prime West reinvestment funds, Walmart ($3,000) and a $4,500 grant from Packed for Families toward lunch buddy expenses.
LAMP asked the county and commissioners to help identify larger donors and community partners (Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, Rotary and others) to cover operating costs, noting many outside grants favor programs with certain diversity metrics that small rural counties cannot meet.
Next steps: LAMP will continue recruitment, finalize the new coordinator’s start and bring a program update back to the board next month.
