The superintendent said the district's approach is to clarify how AI can support learning without replacing it and to require teachers to explain permitted uses on specific assignments. He pointed to social studies guidance that asks students to reflect: "Am I using this to support my learning or to replace it?" Tim said the document will remain fluid and that the district will continue to collect teacher and student feedback.
Board members asked about how these classroom-level policies will translate when students go to college; Tim said college rules vary and students should check instructors' expectations. The board did not adopt a single district-wide prohibition or allowance; instead, it endorsed the department-driven approach and the toolkit as a resource.
