District tech director reports state-mandated cybersecurity changes, device‑purchase rule and data‑removal plan

Dr. Griffith said Kentucky moved from the Lightspeed filtering system to GoGuardian after a state bid, and the district has deployed GoGuardian to align with the new statewide standard. He explained the district also adopted a purchasing policy, in effect since Jan. 1, that restricts new purchases to Google‑compliant devices so the district can deploy security and monitoring tools consistently across student devices. "So we are using GoGuardian," he said, and added that the district will phase out non‑compliant devices as they reach end of life.
Dr. Griffith also said the district will deploy a tool to remove personally identifiable information from Infinite Campus records — a step requested at the state level because districts have accumulated two decades of student records. He estimated the removal tool will be deployed within 3–5 weeks and described it as a security measure to reduce the value of district accounts to hackers.
The board had no substantive objections recorded; staff said they are working with state guidance to implement the steps and will report back as deployments occur.
