Overton County commission approves school budget amendments, multiple grants and major highway spending

The Overton County Board of Commissioners on the present agenda approved a package of routine and larger spending items, including school budget amendments, grant applications for community infrastructure and safety, opioid disbursements to local groups, a $5,177,866 bridge contract and authorization to purchase up to $1.3 million in highway equipment.

The board voted to approve revisions to the school general purpose and federal projects funds and a central cafeteria fund amendment after consideration by the education and budget committees. Donna moved the school budget amendment, Philip seconded, and the measure passed on a roll-call vote.
