Board hears budget update and progress reports on facilities projects

Miss Lipford presented the district’s financial packet and highlighted September figures: general purpose school fund appropriations expended 10.5% with 3.8% revenue received; federal projects showed 15.5% of appropriations expended with 0.4% revenue received; central cafeteria appropriations expended 20.1%; and the Head Start fiscal year project showed 21.5% of appropriations expended with 13.9% revenue received. Lipford noted that September revenue totals were not yet posted and that the majority of expenditures were salaries and benefits.
Board members asked whether federal funding streams were being affected by national developments; Lipford said Title I and other programs continue to flow and that they are managed through long-term contracts. The board had no further budget amendments at the meeting.
In the director’s facilities report, staff showed progress photos and timelines: AgCenter lighting and electrical work are underway with an expected finish earlier than originally planned; the meat processing facility has structural steel and cooler delivery pending and may be usable for classes in January though official completion could be later; the armory renovation is scheduled for later in the school year with classes expected next fall; Roan Creek windows are slated for delivery the week of Oct. 27 with installation expected to take 3–4 weeks after delivery; and the high school track will be resealed during fall break.
