Multiple commissioners raised that employees moving into certified positions can lose longevity pay when their job grade changes. Speaker 2 said an employee who has “10 or 11, 12 years of service” could “go back to the table…with no longevity,” and asked whether the county could allow hiring at a higher step for qualified applicants or grant a certified‑position pay bump.
