Commissioners Hear $25M–$35M Parks Master Plan; County Seeks Input on Geese Control

Floyd County commissioners received a detailed parks master plan that outlines phased upgrades to Community Park (about $25 million) and a proposed regional park (about $35 million). Parks staff also sought support for a multi-step geese management plan emphasizing education, habitat modification and coordination with the parks board.

Parks and Recreation director Matt Dennison and consultant Paul Tynion presented a long-range master plan to the Floyd County Board of Commissioners that lays out phased improvements for two sites: reinvestment in the existing Community Park and development of a new regional park. Dennison said the planning process included about 15 months of public input and noted early grant wins to start work on Shelter House No. 4.
