Chambers County Commissioners Court proclaimed September as Deaf Awareness Month and invited community recognition of the county's deaf and hard-of-hearing residents. Reverend Dennis thanked the court for the proclamation and said "the only difference between a hearing person and a deaf person ... is that the deaf cannot hear," urging equal access to services and education.
