At its regular meeting the Council Bluffs Community School District Board of Education approved several routine but consequential items, including appointment of the district negotiation team for upcoming collective-bargaining talks and contracts to support staff training.
A motion to authorize Julie Foster, David Nicholson and Zach Pope to serve as the district's negotiation team for the forthcoming CWA and CBEA contract negotiations was made and seconded; roll call recorded all present board members voting in favor and the chair announced the motion carried. The board did not record objections or abstentions on the record.
The board also cast the district's weighted votes for representation on the Green Hills Area Education Agency Board of Directors. The board voted to cast its District 3 weighted vote for Marie Fenn and its District 4 weighted vote for Mary Anne Hanusa; both motions were seconded, passed by unanimous roll call and were announced as carrying.
On contracts, the board approved a two-year contract with Vector Solutions to provide required safety and compliance training for district personnel for 2026–2027. Staff said participating UEN districts negotiated a 15% discount and described the platform as offering training modules on compliance topics such as blood-borne pathogens and Title IX. When asked about funding, staff said the contract will be paid from the HR budget and that a budget code was provided on the board item.
The consent agenda — which included a Hazel Health contract extension, the personnel agenda and October disbursements — was approved by unanimous roll call. The board adjourned afterward.
Votes at a glance: all recorded roll-call votes in the meeting were recorded on the transcript as unanimous 'Yes' responses from board members present.
