Board approves Granite YMCA after-school and 'Strive' contracts

Assistant Superintendent Nicole Doherty presented two contracts with identification language for programs run by the Granite YMCA: an after-school program operating at Westin Elementary, Webster Elementary, Jewett Street Elementary and Greenacres, and the Granite YMCA Strive program at all four middle schools and three high schools (Central, Memorial and West).
Doherty said the Strive program supports youths who are not attending school due to suspension. A board member moved approval, the motion was seconded, and the board approved both contracts by voice vote.
District staff said these programs are intended to support student engagement and provide structured services during out-of-school placements. Administrators will monitor program delivery and report to the board as appropriate.
