The board ratified two Measure E‑funded change orders after Facilities/Maintenance staff reported unforeseen site conditions at Los Gatos High School.
Toby (FMOT) told trustees that during demolition of the art building roof the crew discovered significant dry rot in fascia boards and that the original roofing product (Tremco) was unavailable within the project timeframe. The change order work included removing and replacing approximately 220 linear feet of timber fascia and installing an alternative roofing product; the change order amount for the project was reported as $37,807, bringing the revised contract total to $171,941. Toby said all costs will be paid from Measure E bond funds.
Separately, in the boys locker room floor replacement, crews found incorrectly installed epoxy floor sections in the shower and restroom areas that required removal to original grade, additional concrete and rebar, and a corrected slope for ADA compliance. That change order was reported at $28,400, revising the contract to $152,400; Measure E bond funds will pay the cost.
Board members moved, seconded and approved ratification of both change orders during the meeting; student preferential votes were recorded and the motions carried.
Staff said both sets of work have been completed by contractors during the project time and recommended ratification to close out the change orders.
