Franklin County commissioners adopt multiple engineer, road, grant and procurement resolutions

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 4 approved a series of administrative and infrastructure measures covering drainage, roads, contracts, public-safety grants and county procurement.
Engineer’s office items approved included Resolution 8025, which certifies adjusted assessments for the Cook Tri-County Ditch Watershed after the project finished approximately $41,000 under budget; and Resolution 8125, which declared necessary the 2025 resurfacing program and set a public hearing for Feb. 25, 2025. Commissioners also approved Resolution 8225, awarding a $406,550 contract to MS Consultants Inc. for real-estate acquisition services on the Cook Road improvement project.
Traffic- and subdivision-related approvals included Resolution 8325 (authorizing a request to the Ohio Department of Transportation to study and consider reducing Berger Road’s speed limit from 45 to 35 mph), Resolution 8425 (requesting a reduction on Federal Road from 55 to 50 mph), and Resolution 8525 (accepting Plum Run Crossing subdivision streets for public maintenance in Jackson Township). The board also accepted the annual 2024 bridge inspection report under Resolution 8625.
Public-safety and social-service items included Resolution 8725, which authorizes the county to execute the Columbus Urban Area Security Initiative FY2024 grant agreement and designates the Franklin County Emergency Management and Homeland Security director as the grant administrator for the $1,500,000 award. Justice-policy resolutions approved a $23,567 professional-services contract with Impact Community Action for peer support and case management (Resolution 9025) and a lease for the Reeves Center to centralize peer-support services at an annualized cost stated as approximately $23,128.68 (Resolution 9125).
Purchasing items were approved under Resolution 9225, which authorized 180 purchase orders totaling $4,233,298.64; staff reported $207,223.80 in awards to small and emerging businesses year to date. Resolution 9325, a separate set of eight purchase orders totaling $168,828.25, was adopted with Commissioner Boyce recorded as abstaining on that vote.
