Franklin County opens public hearing and authorizes engineering plans for Groveport Road shared-use path

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners opened a public hearing, heard no public testimony, and adopted Resolution 96-25 on Feb. 11 to authorize the county engineer to prepare plans for the Groveport Road shared-use path improvement project in Madison Township.
Franklin County Engineer Adam Fowler described the project as nearly three miles of bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure extending from Front Street and Black Street in Groveport through Groveport Park, along Richardson Road and Groveport Road to the existing shared-use path in Canal Winchester. Fowler said the project is funded by LinkUS transit-supportive infrastructure dollars and that the engineer’s office will file plans as necessary. No members of the public requested to speak during the hearing.
The board moved, seconded and voted to adopt Resolution 96-25; the approval authorizes the engineer to prepare engineering plans, representing the next step in the county’s legislative and project process. The engineer will return with plan documents and procurement steps as the project advances.
