Board adopts routine contracts, grants and infrastructure awards; several projects funded

Franklin County commissioners on May 6 approved multiple routine resolutions covering infrastructure, procurement, grants and programming.
Among the actions adopted, the board approved Resolution 33425 awarding the county township resurfacing program to Shelley Company for $3,697,662.51 and Resolution 33525 awarding general bridge maintenance to Double Z Construction Company for $570,164.37. The drainage engineer’s 10‑year capital improvement program for drainage systems was adopted under Resolution 33225, and plan approval for the Case Road and other storm‑sewer improvements in Clinton Township was granted under Resolution 33325; staff said construction is expected to start in late summer 2025 and the project is funded with Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) dollars.
The auditor’s office was authorized to purchase an enterprise license with CredIQ for $21,800 to improve commercial property valuation data under Resolution 33125. The law library accepted a $1,174.48 grant from the statewide county law library consortium under Resolution 33725 to buy a scanner, charging stations and display equipment. Purchasing presented 78 purchase orders across county agencies totaling $9,106,882.99 under Resolution 34625; staff reported a portion of those awards went to small and emerging businesses and women‑owned firms.
On social service and youth programming, the board authorized Ready to Earn youth employment agreements totaling $1,384,612.70 under Resolution 34225 and approved an amendment with Tech Corps Ohio for $525,000 under Resolution 34325 to expand paid tech internships this summer.
Resolution 33925 authorized a $2,775,000 partner contract with the Greater Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau (Experience Columbus) to promote Franklin County as a tourism destination. Staff said visitor spending and bed‑tax collections underpin the county’s ability to fund services.
The board postponed Resolution 34825, which would have authorized the county administrator to execute lien releases and related documents, to allow staff to add a sunset clause and provide clarifying language. The clerk noted additional journalizations and the meeting adjourned.
Votes on each adopted resolution were recorded as moved, seconded and approved by the commissioners present.
